International Experience Canada (IEC) Program
The International Experience Canada (IEC) program allows young individuals, to temporarily work in Canada. Eligibility depends on citizenship in countries with bilateral youth mobility agreements with Canada or those supported by a Recognized Organization (RO). Categories of the IEC Program include:
- Working Holiday
Participants receive an open work permit, allowing them to work anywhere in Canada for most employers. The duration of the permit may vary based on agreements between countries. - Young Professionals
This category enables individuals to gain international experience by working for a Canadian employer. - International Co-op
Students enrolled in a post-secondary institution in their home country can intern with Canadian companies.
Eligible candidates must submit an IEC profile to express interest in one or more program categories. Profiles are placed in category-specific pools, and candidates are randomly selected through scheduled “Rounds” of invitations. Invitation schedules and quotas vary by country, with some programs offering unlimited invitations.
