Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program – Business Applicant

How to Apply for Manitoba’s Business Immigration Program?

If you are interested in operating a business in Manitoba, the first step is to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), accompanied by an Exploratory Visit and a Business Intent Summary. The Exploratory Visit must take place no more than one year prior to filing the EOI. Completing these steps is necessary to receive an invitation to apply for nomination.

Eligibility Criteria for the Business Applicant Program:

To qualify for Manitoba’s Business Applicant Program, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Net Worth: Possess a minimum verified personal net worth of $350,000 CAD.
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of successful business ownership and management experience, or
    • A minimum of 3 years of executive-level experience as a senior manager in a business.
  • Adaptability Assessment Matrix: Achieve a score of at least 60 points on the matrix, which evaluates:
    • Age
    • Business Knowledge and Experience
    • Net Worth
    • Language Proficiency: Applicants must submit IELTS results (or equivalent) from within the last two years to verify their English and/or French fluency.
    • Settlement Factors: Points are awarded based on connections to Manitoba and the skills of the applicant’s dependents.
  • Investment Commitment: Agree to make a minimum business investment of $150,000 CAD.
  • Good-Faith Deposit: Commit to a refundable $100,000 CAD deposit, which will be returned if the terms of the agreement are successfully met.

Application and Selection Process

Manitoba will assess all submitted EOIs and select top candidates to apply for nomination. From this pool, the province will identify the strongest applicants for nomination under the program.

It’s important to note:

  • Nomination is not guaranteed. An EOI or application does not automatically result in nomination.
  • Even if nominated by Manitoba, approval for permanent residency is subject to Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) approval.

This program provides a great opportunity for business-minded individuals to establish themselves in Manitoba while contributing to the economic development of relative province. However, meeting all requirements and following the outlined process is essential for success.
