Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program
All Economic Class programs aim to attract immigrants to Canada who can contribute to the country’s economy.
The Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) program, a key component of the Economic Class, is managed through the Express Entry system. Once an applicant receives an Invitation to Apply (ITA), the approximate processing time is six months.
Eligibility Criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker Program:
- Work Experience:
At least one year of continuous full-time paid professional work experience, or the equivalent in part-time, the job must fall under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) categories O, A, or B, within the past 10 years.
OR
Candidates can qualify with Arranged Employment in Canada, which requires a full-time, permanent job offer from a Canadian employer. This must typically be supported by a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA), unless LMIA exemptions apply.
- Education:
Possess a Canadian diploma, certificate, or credential, AND/OR a foreign educational credential that has been assessed by an approved Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) agency to confirm its equivalency to a Canadian secondary or post-secondary credential.
- Language Proficiency:
The candidates must meet a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score of 7 or its equivalent.
- Settlement Funds:
The applicants must have sufficient funds to support themselves and their families for at least six months after arriving in Canada.
